Fall 2022 Schedule

Small Ball Divisions (Ages 2-9) - 1 hr 15 min sessions
Youth League Divisions (Ages 9-19) - 1 hr 30 min sessions

Division Time Blocks:
*subject to change based on registration numbers:

  • U5 - 9:00-10:15 AM
  • U7 - 9:00-11:30 AM
  • U9 - 9:00-11:30 AM
  • U11 - 11:30-2:30 PM
  • U13 - 11:30-2:30 PM
  • U15 - 1:00-5:30 PM
  • U19 - 2:30-5:30 PM

AIBL - Athlete Institute Basketball League is Orangeville's premier basketball skill development and organized games, starting at age 2, and up to 35+ Men's League.

Program runs on Sundays in the Athlete Institute Fieldhouse.

AIBL is divided into three programs:

  1. Small Ball (Ages 2-9)
  2. Youth (Ages 9-19)
  3. Adult (18+ and 35+ Men's League)

What is AIBL SMALL BALL (ages 2-9)?

Learn the game of basketball and develop motor skills through fundamental skill development and mini-games, on lower nets. This is all about getting a taste of the sport and having a great time!

What is AIBL YOUTH (ages 9-19)?

Athlete Institute's Youth Basketball League - Weekly skill development and refereed basketball games for kids ages 9-19.

Youth League Divisions: U11, U13, U15 and U19

Structure/Rules (Ages 9-18)

Volunteer Coaches

  • Each team will be coached by a volunteer coach
  • Volunteer coaches will also be responsible for running 30 mins of skill stations and/or practices prior to the game

Game Rules and Regulations:

  • FIBA Rules and Regulations with the following modifications.

Time

  • 10:00 minute quarters, running time
  • 3:00 minute half time
  • Substitutions will occur at the 5:00 minute mark of each quarter

Shooting Fouls

  • A shooting foul on a 2-pt field goal MISS will be rewarded with 1 free throw worth 2 points
  • A shooting foul on a 2-pt field goal MAKE will be rewarded with 2 points plus 1 free throw worth 1 point
  • A shooting foul on a 3-pt field goal MISS will be rewarded with 1 free throw worth 2 points, plus 1 free throw worth 1 point
  • A shooting foul on a 3-pt field goal MAKE will be rewarded with 3 points plus 1 free throw worth 1 point

Fouls in the Final Minute

  • In the final minute of the game, the 2nd foul will result in shooting one free throw worth 2 points

Technical/Unsportsmanlike Fouls

  • Technical fouls are non-contact fouls and result in 1 free throw worth 1 point
  • Unsportsmanlike fouls are contact fouls and result in 1 free throw worth 2 points
  • Two technical fouls = player ejection
  • Two unsportsmanlike fouls = player ejection
  • One technical foul and 1 unsportsmanlike foul = player ejection
  • Two ejections = 1 game suspension

Time Outs

  • No timeouts

Overtime

  • If score is tied at the end of regulation, there will be a 2:00 minute overtime

Referee

  • All games will be refereed by at least one certified official

Accessories

  • Jewellery such as bracelets may be worn for religious purposes so long as they are taped down and do not present a hazard for injury to others
