Chris Cobbina hired as Head Coach of Orangeville Prep

ORANGEVILLE, ON. – The Athlete Institute Basketball Academy is thrilled to announce Chris Cobbina as Head Coach of Orangeville Prep. Chris brings valuable experience to the Athlete Institute; as an elite basketball player, leader, coach, and teacher.

“Firstly I would like to thank Jesse Tipping and Tony McIntyre for giving me the opportunity to be Head Coach of Orangeville Prep. This is a great program that has quickly set the standard for prep schools in North America,” said Chris, “I am extremely excited to help lead this program into the future and help provide opportunity, leadership, and guidance to this great group of student athletes. My family and I look forward to immersing ourselves into the Orangeville program and community and helping execute the vision of this proud program.”

Background
Chris attended Ohio Valley University on a full athletic scholarship, where he was a 4-year starter and 3-year captain on the varsity basketball team. During his time at Ohio Valley, he was a 3x member of the All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team.

In 2006, Chris graduated with a degree in secondary social studies with certification in special education. He then went on to earned a Master’s degree in Recreation and Sports Sciences – Coaching Education, from Ohio University (2010). During his time at Ohio University Chris was a Graduate Assistant Coach.

In 2010-2011 Chris was Associate Head Coach of St. Mary’s Ryken High School (Leonardtown, Md) and then became the Director of Basketball Operations at Boise State University from 2011 to 2013.

Most recently, Chris has been teaching at Greece Arcadia High School and has been coaching with the CIA Bounce program for the past 5 years.
